MEET BUBBLES!! Bubbles got her name because of her bubbly personality. And as you will learn from her story, that bubbly personality shows the remarkable resiliency of this dog despite her many hardships. A two-year-old Pit Bull mix, Bubbles arrived at the Rowan County Animal Shelter on August 1st. Her owners were moving, so Bubbles, who was originally known as Pepper, and the familys other dog were dumped at this high-kill rural shelter. The shelter staff were very concerned about Bubbles bulging left eye. While the family said her eye was always like that, it was obvious that Bubbles needed to see a vet immediately. On August 3rd, Faith Wright contacted RADAR to see if we could help. We offered to assist with her vetting costs as an incentive for a rescue to take her. On August 6th, Melissa McAllister and her South of the Bully Rescue in North Carolina pulled Bubbles and got her safely out of the shelter! Based on the condition of her eye, the vet was certain that Bubbles had a great deal of pain. The vet was surprised that from all of the pressure, the eye hadnt already ruptured. The eye needed to be removed ASAP. The eye removal surgery, along with her spaying, took place on August 8th. The vet determined that the eye problem was not a birth defect, but that the eye had been injured or infected and left untreated. The trauma led to secondary glaucoma. Unfortunately, Bubbles also tested heartworm positive. Melissa told us this about Bubbles: Even after spending most of her life in obvious pain and being dumped at the shelter by the only family she had ever known, she still smiled and managed to find a way to wiggle herself into our hearts. Although she will always carry the reminder of the neglect she endured, she will never let that get her down. She is happy! Always wagging her tail. She will sit at your feet and just wait for love. Cant say enough good about her! Please donate to Bubbles Fund - $0 raised of $250 goal: raisingaidfordogsatrisk.org/pages/bubbles #radardogs #rescuedogs #funditforward Fund It Forward!
