MEETING BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT TEAM AND THE GHANA NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GRADUATE TEACHERS AND COALITION OF CONCERNED TEACHERS TO RESOLVE ISSUES RELATING TO TEACHERS OF THE GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE COMMUNIQUE SIGNED AT THE MEETING HELD AT THE CONFERENCE ROOM OF THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION DATED THIS 15™ DAY OF MAY, 2014 COMMUNIQUE At a meeting of stakeholders comprising Government Team made up of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Ministry of Justice and Attorney Generals Department, Controller and Accountant Generals Department, Ghana Education Service, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, National Pension Regulatory Authority and Labour Department on one hand, and teacher unions within the education sector made up of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) on the other, on Thursday, 15!hMay, 2014 to resolve issues relating to teachers of the Ghana Education Service, It was agreed as follows: 1. Incremental credits:- Fair Wages and Salaries Commission should liaise with Controller and Accountant Generals Department to let the Ministry of Finance know the total cost of the incremental credits for 2011 and 2012, 2. Payment of not more than 3 Months Salary Arrears- District Directors have been directed to submit the completed templates for the payment of the remaining arrears to their Regional Directors latest by 16th May. 2014, The Regional Directors would in turn forward the completed forms to Ghana Education Service Headquarters by 22nd May, 2014, Payment is expected to begin by the end of June, 2014 3. Transfer Grants:- District Directors have been mandated to collate data on transfer grants of qualified beneficiaries by end of May, 2014, Once Ghana Education Service Headquarters receives the data, stakeholders would be invited for a verification and validation exercise for payment to be effected. 4.
