MEMO TO: ALL REALTOR MEMBERS!!!! Recognition: to give special notice or attention ~ Award: an honor or reward It is time to honor SMTAR members who have so freely given of their time to help make SMTAR a great association. Please submit nominations for the following special awards that will be presented at SMTAR’s annual Installation Banquet on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Westbury House on Seventh in Columbia. Mark the date now & plan to get your tickets when someone from the Social Committee calls your firm! (See how to submit nominations below.) REALTOR of the Year: The REALTOR of the Year is selected based on their REALTOR spirit (30%); business accomplishments (30%); his/her service to the local and/or state associations (25%); their service to their community (15%). As you can see, REALTOR of the Year is not awarded based on sales volume. Andy Akin Distinguished Service Award: The Andy Akin Distinguished Service award is presented in recognition of dedicated service and outstanding contributions to our Board of REALTORS. The nominee should be someone who upholds the code of ethics, shows integrity, has a good working knowledge of real estate, is cooperative with others and always displays a professional image. Student of the Year: The Student of the Year is presented to our member who has accumulated the most real estate related educational hours between September 15, 2013 and September 15, 2014. Nominations should be sent from the nominee’s Principle Brokers for this award. – the hours must be verifiable to be considered for this award. Hours do not have to be TREC approved or accredited. Other awards that are not annual awards and are given at the discretion of the Awards Committee are: Pioneer Award: is given to someone who shows true leadership quality and helps to pave the way for all members to enjoy success in our profession; Career Achievement Award: is given in recognition of superior achievement in real estate.
