MENKAURE Menkaure, also known by the Greek name Mycerinus, was the king of the Fourth Dynasty of Kmt who ordered the construction of the third and smallest of the pyramids of Giza. His main queen was Khamerernebty II. His rule was from about 2532 to 2508 BCE. He was the successor of Khafre. Several statues of Menkaure place him between the goddess Het-Heru and regional deities that would conveyed the authority of his kingship most strongly to his people. Menkaure was not succeeded by Prince Khuenre, his eldest son, who predeceased Menkaure, but rather by Shepseskaf, one of his younger sons. After those in Egypt, Boston has a number of exquisite statues and representations of Menkaure. -- Runoko Rashidi
