MERE PROPAGANDA; WHO IS DECEIVING WHO: Stop this false islamizing rhetorics! By Adeyemi Aromolaran NOTE ONE (1) True democracy is a government of the people for the people and by the people. The term people refers to those who are part of the citizenry as described by a nations constitution. There are different systems of government. I will describe them later after making my points viz: 1. In a system of government, confusion sets in when parties, elements and individuals that were not factored into consideration ab initio whether as stakeholders or mere appendages begin to constitute a subject matter. 2. Democracy which we practice in Nigeria is one such system of government which reinforces and festers the opinion of the people without any religious, sacred or sanctified sentiments. That means religious opinion or bias are not fundamentally part of democracy as is the case in Theocracy. Hence, the expression of our religious believes in a democratic setting like ours should be consistent with the tenets of a democracy. Such religious dogma which are found parallel to a democracy are better achieved conservatively, other wisely, amounts to gross illegality. -In a nut shell, religious opinions are not welcomed in a democracy except of course by general consensus. 3. A democracy involves politics (activities relating to gaining and using power in a country) like campaigns and rallies etc.which are to be done within the limits of the constitution of a nations democracy. There is a skyrocketing deviation from this in our country Nigeria where impunity is celebrated and character assassination and libel enjoys liberty all in a bid to canvass for votes. For instance, the popular jignle of the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan which is aired by the Nigeria Television Authority must have been masterminded by Buharis unrepentant detractors. -In a nut shell, our democracy and its politics have suffered degenerative changes over the years characterized by festering impunity even up till now. 4. Goodluck and Buhari have both served as Commander-in- Chief of the Armed Forces in our nation Nigeria. Although the later served in a military regime while Goodluck will complete a four-year term in office this year. -In a nut shell, Both Jonathan and Buhari have ruled this Nation before. 5. I dont know how close you may be to them, but for people like me who do not know either of them personally, we have to rely on their track records in office and personal testimonies from those who know them. 6. Except we are in a Theocracy should we consider their religious backgrounds or affiliations, as this in no little way matters to the constitutions and qualifications in our democracy. In fact the leniency of our constitution provides that they be allowed freedom of personal religious opinions. 7. A comparison of both viz: Although there are marked differences between President Jonathan and General Buhari, there are also many similarities. Neither is a good orator. Both have difficulty articulating anything but the most simplistic concepts. Both have suspect democratic credentials. Both are seen as representing the interests of a particular segment of the nation, and both have had an opportunity before and not made particularly good use of it. This is where the similarities end. Those close to one candidate say he lives an austere life and isn’t interested in accumulation of personal wealth. Those close to the other have leaked stories of inebriation and accumulation of massive wealth. One candidate is known for his straight talking, the other for his waffling. One candidate is respected for his patriotism and reputed to be man of steel; the other is seen as an ethnic opportunist lacking the courage to face personal danger. One candidate is known for being impetuous and decisive; the other for being dithering and clueless. One is a former military dictator who has had time to learn the error of his ways; the other is a current civilian dictator enjoying the rewards of his ways with no reason to want change. Yet change is what is urgently required. The nation needs a leader who can inspire us to be better than we are.(Comparison credited to Eugene Enahoro; Pieced together by Adeyemi Aromolaran). 8. For conscience sakes I must reel out some facts about Buharis regime as Head of State as pieced together by famous Sunday Adelaja viz: HOW GEN. BUHARI CONSTITUTED HIS GOVERNMENT WHEN HE WAS HEAD OF STATE IN 1982-1984: Gen. Buharis Governors 1984-1985: 1. Allison Madueke - Christian-Anambra. 2. Jeremiah Useni - Christian - Bendel. 3. Micheal Bamidele - Christian Ondo. 4. Oladipo Diya - Christian - Ogun. 5. David Mark - Christian - Niger. 6. John Kpera - Christian - Benue. 7. Dan Achibong - Christian - C/Rivers. 8. Ike Nwachukwu -Christian -Imo. 9. Oladipo Popoola - Christian - Oyo. 10. Bitrus Atukum - Christian - Plateau. 11. B.L. Letimah - Christian - Rivers. 12. Salaudeen Latinwo - Muslim-Kwara. 13. Gbolahan Mudasiru - Atheist-Lagos. 14. Sani Sami -Muslim - Bauchi. 15. Abubakar Waziri - Muslim - Borno. 16. Muhammadu Jega - Muslim - Gongola. 17. Usman Muazu - Muslim - Kaduna. 18. Hamza Abdullahi - Muslim - Kano. 19. Garba Duba -Muslim -Sokoto Out of 19 governors: 11 Christians, 1 atheist, 7 Muslims. Buharis Ministers: 1. Domkat Bali - Christian - Defence. 2. Onaolapo Sholeye -Christian-Finance. 3. Emmanuel Nsan - Christian - Health. 4. Sam Omeruah - Christian-Information. 5. Tam David West - Christian - Petroleum. 6. Patrick Koshoni - Christian - Works. 7. Chike Offodile - Christian - Justice. *Clement Isong - Christian Gov, CBN. Defence, works, petroleum, justice, finance and CBN governor were all Christians. Friends wakeup and don’t be deceived by baseless accusations, an Islamic fundamentalist would not put in his government, Christians mostly. IT IS A PITY THAT MANY HAVE GIVEN THEMSELVES TO DECEIT. LET’S STOP THE BASELESS ACCUSATION AND FACE REALITY To be continued....
