MERRY CHRISTMAS TO FACEBOOK FRIENDS AND FAMILY! Just a little update and word of my Christmas plans: Dad is doing better, but this is a slow and difficult thing. They did a tracheotomy so they could get the big breathing tube out of his throat. He is not on the respirator, but they are giving him oxygen to help him along. For the most part, he is breathing on his own now. They tried to put the feeding tube directly in his stomach to get that tube out of his throat, but his vitals went bad and they aborted the procedure. They will try again when he is stable and try something other than the sedation, which may have been responsible for his BP dropping too much. He is moving his arms a bit more, and talking just a little. Hes saying yes or no to their questions. So his vocal cords are coming back. Not strong, but its a start! He has been moved from ICU (just yesterday) to Progressive Care. Danielle will be here tomorrow evening and we will drive down, probably the 27th, to visit with him and my mom. Shes worn out and stressed, but shes been here before and is a real trooper! Thanks for all who have been praying. Continued prayers are still needed.
