MERVO SCHOOL COUNSELORS BELIEF STATEMENTS We believe that all students can achieve at their highest level when provided with challenging, motivating, and engaging curriculum, internships, and experiences that will result in college and career success. Through active collaboration with students, parents, school personnel, and community partners, we will meet the professional, academic, social and emotional developmental needs of all of our students. As transformed school counselors, we believe that our role is to courageously challenge school/district practices and policies that hinder the promotion of equity for our students and community. We believe that through advocacy and informed programming based on data, we will work to close the achievement, attainment, and access gaps for our students. We believe that in order to have an effective comprehensive school counseling program, licensed school counselors must work collaboratively with students, school staff and faculty, school administrators, community partners, and district and state education leaders. It is imperative that each stakeholder has an active and equal role in planning, managing, delivering, and evaluating all program activities. We believe that it is imperative to analyze data so that it directly influences our programming. Additionally, we partner with students, parents/guardians, school personnel, and the community in order to create sustainable and effective programming.
