#MEwx #VStvME A Winter Weather Advisory has been posted through 2PM Saturday for the southern half of Maine with exception to areas within about 20 miles of the coastline. An area of low pressure will track east over the Gulf of Maine Friday night and Saturday spreading a mix of winter precipitation into Maine. Precipitation will begin as snow Friday night but change over to sleet, freezing rain, and then rain as we transition into Saturday. Initial snow accumulations will be light along the Midcoast with a dusting to 1 and 1-3 possible further inland. As warm air continues to nose in from the south Saturday with highs climbing to the 40s, rain will be the primary form of precipitation for the Midcoast with isolated pockets of sleet and freezing rain mixing in. Icing potential will be higher over interior Maine where cold air will be better locked in leading to light accumulations. Impacts should be minimal for the Midcoast. Mostly sunny skies return Sunday with highs in the low 30s but a breezy north wind will take the wind chill to the teens and 20s.
