MI autism campaign update from Joe Stone: Things are heating up on the autism campaign front. We received word back from the MMRP. As expected they denied holding a hearing on the new petition based on what we believe to be misinterpretations of current MI law. A Claim of Appeal will be filed by attorneys Tim Knowlton and Michael Komorn. While it was expected that action would need to be taken in court, I think most of us had secretly hoped that we would face less opposition. This necessity for additional action has not caused our resolve to waiver, but it has made clear that adding autism to the list of qualifying conditions will not go unchallenged. We should have more info on our next steps moving forward in the week to come. It seems to me that where there is a lack of understanding of the relevance of the endocannabinoid system you find fear. Presenting first hand accounts along with scientifically sound data seems absolutely paramount to combating that fear. I’m grateful to all of you that have stepped forward in this effort. With your support I firmly believe this campaign will prove successful!
