MICHAEL McHUGHS COUNTDOWN- THE TOP 100 ALL-TIME CLASSIC POP SONGS:(1955-2014): # 3 The magic circle- after counting down almost 1000 songs on FB since early last year it comes down to these 3 rock classics. The Boss broke out with this rock anthem in the mid-70s when I was in school in Syracuse and I went to see him play on the tour for this album after seeing him with the original E Street Band in central park after my fave album by him - his second album came out. Born To Run is now the official song for the state of NJ and Bruce is a mega star but back then this anthem only peaked at #23 on the pop chart. I first heard him when I heard his first album while visiting peeps in NJ. I wrote a review of his second album for my college paper and predicted hed be the biggest star of the decade but that didnt happen. Elton was the biggest star of the 70s but then in 1984 when Born In The USA came out Bruce did become the biggest male rock star of the the 80s and this was the big rock anthem of my generation. We came of age with this. Tramps like us baby we were born to run... Rock n roll had come to my generation with all the power and majesty that we except from the best classic rock. Thats why hes The Boss.
