MILEVA will hold its very first Battle of Savannah conference event on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Elmont Memorial Library. Elmont, NY 11003. Our program will address the following concerns: 1. To appreciate and commemorate the courage of our veterans and our ancestors contributions in the territory of the United States. 2. On the behalf of our Haitian- American Community, MILEVA and Friend will bestow its gratefulness and honor the Haitian People and the Country of Haiti with a plaque of recognition. 3. To galvanize support towards establishing a distinct veterans memorial plaque that will honor, commemorate the 1,500 plus Haitian Soldiers and Hundreds more of African Heritage veterans that fought in the various campaigns of the American Revolution and the Battle of Savannah. 4. The event will feature keynote speakers, and Haitian-American historians, ceremonial presentations by MILEVA Color Guard; a special presentation of the MILEVA and CHE N&EE Americas Veterans in Living History, as well as short film screenings on the subject.
