MISLEADING ADVICE FROM CPC TRAINING - TopicsExpress

MISLEADING ADVICE FROM CPC TRAINING COMPANIES --------------------------------------------- It has been brought to our attention that certain Driver CPC training companies are providing misinformation with regard to who needs to do Driver CPC. We have received several reports from clients who have been told that :- [Quote] with a few exemptions (vehicle testing, councils under special circumstances etc), anyone driving a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes vocationally needs to complete their 35 hours to obtain their blue DQC (Driver Qualification Card) before September 10th [Endquote] The above information is misleading because it fails to mention the most commonly applied exemption of incidental driving. An exemption that all clients who were contacted did indeed fall under and therefore were exempt from Driver CPC despite the information they were sold by the misleading training company. The incidental driver exemption is described as :- Vehicles carrying material or equipment to be used in the course of the driver’s work Example Driver B is a self-employed bricklayer and drives their lorry to a building site with a load of bricks. They unload the bricks and use them in the construction of a house. They don’t need to have Driver CPC because driving the lorry is not their main activity and they’re carrying materials for their use in the course of bricklaying.
