MISS PEGGYS VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS......We went this morning to deliver gifts to Miss Peggy and her grandson. All 4 of us had our arms loaded down with gifts and she welcomed us in just as she had the first day Lindsey, Connor and I met her. She invited us into the living room and I sat down beside her on the sofa. We laid our gifts down around the room and I told her that they didnt have to open them all then, they could wait til tomorrow but there were a couple that I wanted her open while I was there. I told her that this first gift was from me. It was a welcome mat and I explained to her that I wanted her to have that because she made me feel so welcome into her home the first time I met her and each visit after that. The other gift I wanted her to open was in an envelope. Before I gave it to her I said, Though this card is signed from Lindsey and Bonnie much of it is actually from many other people that heard about how we met and heard of your struggle and they just want to help. God laid it on their hearts to bless you. You have to understand that none of this is actually from any of us. This is all a gift from God. Hes just allowing me to be the delivery person and I am so thankful for that. You and I both know that it was no accident how we met. God put us all in that spot, on that day, at that time for a reason. He wanted to bless you with those gift cards and I know without a doubt that He wants you to have this too because though youve seen struggle you still praise Him and thank Him. When she opened the card that was in the envelope she saw 20s and broke down in tears. I was sitting right beside her and looking in the card you couldnt tell whether it was $40 or $100 but it brought her to tears no matter the amount. (It was actually $100). The moment she started crying I knew exactly what she was feeling. I have been to the point in the past where $10 felt like $1000 or $50 felt like $5000. I knew that to Miss Peggy, whatever amount was in that envelope didnt matter, what mattered was she needed it....desperately and it came at just the right time. She was so busy crying and carrying on over the money in the card that she wasnt even noticing the piece of paper folded in it. I said to her, Look, theres more. She opened the paper and I explained to her that the past due amount she owed in rent was paid and so was her next 2 months rent. She really broke down then. She wasnt wiping her eyes with a tissue or her sleeve, she was using a hand towel. The tears were flowing like waterworks and she was just overwhelmed. She said, My heart is so full right now. So was ours!! When I had initially called her up and asked what shed like for Christmas she couldnt think of anything. I tossed out some ideas, one of which was a jogging suit and she finally said, I could use a new jogging suit I guess. Her grandson was the same way and he finally agreed that he could use a new pair of pants. I reminded her that when we spoke that day she had told me that she had not had a good Christmas in over 15 years. She then said to me through tears, This is the best Christmas I ever had. I told her that when I had spoken to the lady who worked for her landlord about making her rent payments that she told me that no one deserved this blessing more than Miss Peggy did. I also shared with Miss Peggy that when speaking to this lady about her breast cancer battle the lady said, Let me tell ya. That sweet lady has been smiling all the way through it. I told Miss Peggy before I left that she is an inspiration to me and has been to many others that she doesnt even know. As we were leaving she said through a cracking voice, Bonnie, I cant do much for you but if there is ever anything I can you just let me know, Id be happy too. I truly believe that this is the kind of lady that would give anything she had to anyone that needed it because she knows that is what God wants her to do. She asked me if we would keep in touch and I said, Absolutely because I love you already Miss Peggy!. Words cannot describe how precious it is to have been chosen to help this dear woman this Christmas. There are a lot of good Christian people out there that would have been happy to help but out of all of them God chose to put her in our path that day and lay her on our hearts in the last weeks. He chose us for this very important job and I am so honored. If you would like God to use you and you are praying for opportunities to do His work then just pay attention. When you hear that still small voice telling you to turn the truck around and help a lady thats walking down the street, turn around, help her. Trust Him to put you exactly where He wants you to be. If you are obedient and faithful with some little jobs He will use you for some big ones. One day you might have a Miss Peggy too. What an awesome woman!!! What an awesome delivery!!! What an awesome day!!!! What an awesome God we serve!!!!!!!!
