MISSION MOMENT: Rhonda* has five sons, ages 11 to one year old. They have often witnessed their fathers abuse towards their mother. During the last incident, Rhonda was stabbed 8 times. Her husband was arrested but when he was released while awaiting trial, Rhonda brought her children into shelter. She took a leave of absence from work and planned to stay in shelter just for a few days until the court hearing. Her husband did not show up for the hearing and a warrant was issued. Rhonda tried to keep life as normal as possible for her sons. After 22 days, she was notified by the FBI that he had been arrested. Immediately, she called her employer to say she would return to work the next day. On December 22nd, Rhonda was able to take her boys home in time for Christmas. Rhonda and her boys are still going to family counseling sessions. She has repeatedly said that with Safe Nests help, she needs to show her boys whats right and wrong and how to be real men.
