MLM Applied in 4B class 👏👏 One of the barriers for English for them is the feeling of shyness and lack of confidence in using English (due to their low competency in the language). We challenged it today by encouraging everyone in the group to practice in explaining the process of monsoon rain of which we have covered last week. As for this lesson, the topic is simple: Hows the weather today? For Level 1: each member in the group has to practice explaining the process of monsoon rain to their group members (everyone has the process list of which shared by Habibah, their classmate). Though reluctant and shy at first, it needed only one person to ignite the engine and wala! Each group created their own unique ways in explaining the process, even to the stage of doing a group cheer whenever a member completed explaining! Hahaha one group even created a situation as if they were strangers and were talking about the weather (thats Level 4) They even created a conversational way of explaining the process (this Level 3) One group came up breaking the process explanation into parts and then rotating their turns explaining it (thats Level 2) Like a game, different Level caters for different difficulty. Using such terms, learners are better able to see the degree of complexity of which their English is being used. For Tomorrow lesson, the class president suggested to level up the game by explaining the process without having to refer to the notes previously prepared. All agreed! 💪 Learning about monsoon rain, made us learn Arabic in greeting and thanking the teacher before and after the lessons. (Thanks to the word Monsoon which is originally an Arabic word) Since then, I ask every class president not to greet and thank me in English but with language of different country- every lesson! Today, we learnt Good morning, teacher and thank you, teacher in Arabic, French and Korean! 😂😄👍 For these learners, when they are encouraged to use English no matter how minimal at first, it will snowball intrinsically that when it comes to English- they know, if they dont learn English (especially speaking it), theyll turn Zombies. ( I did a cause-effect chain with them in our first lesson what happen if they dont learn English now- Zombie was the end result. They understood what it means- it was their answers.) What an achievement theyve made!
