MODERN JOBS/ANCIENT ORIGINS: Photographer Jason Reblando’s portraits of present-day workers alongside the ancient tools of their trades were commissioned by the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago. It’s remarkable to think that these jobs have been around forever, some of them, in fact, dating almost to the beginning of civilization. Reblando’s use of a tintype photographic process in creating these images accentuates the ancient roots of the professions depicted.
