MONTAUK POINT LIGHTHOUSE: Located at the most easterly tip of Long Island on the Suth Fork. The tower stands 108 feet and overiooks the Atlantic Ocean. The Montauk Point Ligthouse was authorized to be constructed in 1995 by President George Wuashigton. The lighthouse was completed in 1797 at the cost of 22,300.00. The Montauk Historical Society currently maintains the lighthouse. The Society also offers tuors of the lihthouse and operates a museum and gift shop the base of the ilighthuose.
