But if you read a little further and find out that he moved to Germany at the age of three, everything begins to sense. Because, tropicalisms apart, what Urbano does as DJ and producer is more German than an Autobahn: techno along the lines of the old Detroit-Berlin connection (with a touch of Chicago) which has given such joy. More hard-funk than minimalist, more Tresor (where he has spun discs more than once) than Colònia, one of the best current exponents of one of the most purely Germanic sounds is (would you believe it?) Brazilian.
