MOOSE REGIONAL NEWS: Man arrested after CAS incident in Espanola A man who was supposed to stay away from his common law wife in Espanola faces charges including obstructing a peace officer. The incident involves a Children’s Aid Society worker who was blocked from entering a home while checking on the welfare of a child. The worker thought she saw the estranged common-law spouse and called police. Once they arrived, everyone went in and police determined the man was the common-law spouse. No suspects in LCBO break-in Espanola police have no suspects after a cement block was thrown through a window at the LCBO. Police say the culprits tried to steal liquor just inside where the window was smashed but they left empty-handed when the alarm went off. However the broken window will cost the LCBO $1,500. Espanola family needs help after newborn becomes ill A family in Espanola needs financial help with the care of their newborn son. Karson McCutcheon is being treated at the Children’s Hospital for Eastern Ontario in Ottawa for throat and neck issues including paralyzed vocal cords. The four week old is now on breathing support. Although his dad has returned to work, his mother will stay in Ottawa for up to three months and that’s where the money is needed. An online campaign is underway. He says right now bureaucrats at Queens Park make the decisions without considering the ramifications to municipalities in the north. Fedeli says that would change under his leadership. What Fedeli wants are consultations with municipalities directly affected by new proposals to see if changes are warranted. Fedeli says the announcement of an aviation fuel tax is a good example of bureaucrats not factoring how this affects towns and cities with airports. Also running for the Tory leadership are Patrick Brown, Lisa MacLeod, Christine Elliott and Monte McNaughton.
