MORE OF WHY WE NEED PF AND EDGAR LUNGU AS PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA: A PEOPLE SAY HH DOES NOT QUALIFY AS A NATIONAL PRESIDENT According to the World Bank, gender equality enhances economic development, improves prospects for future generations and strengthens political and social systems. Though women now comprise more than 40 percent of the world’s labor force, they still lag behind men in terms of earnings and productivity. Women also face greater obstacles when it comes to participation in social and political institutions. Particularly in developing nations, the gender gap hinders economic and social development and destabilizes the political environment. The UPND and HH either have no policy towards gender equality or they have decided to put the issue aside as an insignificant. Apart from the National Chairperson, UPND has no women on its National Management Committee. This is not only disappointing to the women folks in general, but equally is a big signal as to the type of party the UPND is: it is man’s party. The UPND as a party lacks recognition of the plights of the women folks. It lacks a general leadership policy as party, that which should have ensured that women are given the same opportunity as men in the quest for positions at their national management committee lever. It lacks policy guidelines, as party, that which require deliberate actions aimed at promoting women to higher positions and ensuring fair representation based on gender. As a party, UPND lacks respect and recognition of the women folk, yet they will ask for their vote only to push the men folk upwards while trampling on the women. The party has no excuse; it was formed more than 16 years ago, and still has had no major influence or impact in helping gender equality in Zambia. A party that fails to demonstrate their both capacity and will to promote gender equality at their party level should not be tolerated by all well meaning men and women. Zambia does not need a leader that fails to espouse their spouses to higher heights of positions serve for the kitchen and sitting room. Zambia does not need a leader who only looks at women as a means to an end, and should be economic dependant on men and marriage. Traditional gender roles are a driving force behind womens lower economic status, low literacy and education, poorer health outcomes, and greater exposure to gender-based violence. We need a leader who looks at women as equals, and is demonstratively willing to both encourage and support women to take up greater roles of responsibilities. That can’t be found in UPND. FOR “EDUCATING A WOMAN, IS EDUCATING A FAMILY”. That could even be alien to the mental process of HH and his men folk in UPND. UPND is a tribal party founded as a Tonga Party only. After the death of Mazoka, they refused the then Vice President Sikota. They said he cant be UPND president because he is Lozi, that led him to resign and form his own party. Since then nothing has changed about HH or UPND. They are tribal, they lack respect for nationals, women and are a bitter people who wants a form of unknown revenge against other tribes.
