MOTHERS DAY 2014 Today the Catholic Christian Mothers record - TopicsExpress

MOTHERS DAY 2014 Today the Catholic Christian Mothers record another celebration of motherhood 2014 chapter! It is a day set aside to reflect on the indispensable role of mothers in our families, churches and society at large. The feast, which has its root on the motherhood of Blessed Virgin Mary, is observed on the 25th of March yearly, but whereby the above date falls outside Sunday, any Sunday which comes after it becomes the celebration. However, if we cast our minds back to the creation story, Eve was the 1st mother ever created, but the unfaithfulness of the 1st Eve necessitated the coming of the 2nd Eve (Mary), whose faithfulness brought salvation to mankind! From 25th March to 25th Dec. gives accurately the 9 months of human pregnancy, which Christ also spent in the holy womb of Mary. On a day like this one wonders what life would ve been without the presence of mothers. If the mothers are to be removed from some churches today, they will fold up. Any family where there is no mother is almost crippled, for while father is the head of family, mother is the heart, & without the heart the whole body is dead. And so, we ve passed the epoch when women are regarded as nothing in the society. As we daily get ourselves acclimatized with the sophistication of the era, women are becoming all the more powerful such that some are even the pillars of their families, not men anymore. I am not trying to be too eulogistic or sentimental; it is a reality. Socrates must ve envisaged this when he said, Once made eqaul to men, women become superior. And so, as we rejoice with our mothers today, I must recognize on air some of my own mothers, not all because they are many. The 1st is my Heavenly Mother Mary (Ezenwanyi); my biological mother Mrs. Mary Obadiegwu (Nneoma). I ve not forgotten Mrs. Edith Anekwe, Mrs. Philomina Offor; Mrs. Lovina Ejike, Mrs. Ngozi Ezeoka, Mrs. Nonye Iloegbunam, Mrs. Angela Ojukwu; Mrs. Grace Obana. I wish you and all mothers a happy celebration!
