MR ANDREW EGONTE. THE PEOPLES GENERAL DRUMS UP SUPPORT FOR SIR TONY OBUH; STATING THAT HE WILL GOVERN DELTA STATE AS GOD GOVERNS HIS PEOPLE WITHOUT DISCRIMINATIONS. Deltans should ignore the empty noises from those who have been in government for the past 16 years with nothing to show for their stewardship, politics of egocentricism and cronnism have been their trademark, we have tried them and they have shown to us that their brand of politics is politics of gangsteristic patronage. Deltans and Ikas in particular need a leader who will embrace everybody, not those who will punish you because you fail to come and kneel before them to beg them to do what they were elected to do, Look at the street leading to my house, a contract was awarded for tarring it all-through, we were happy when we got the news, but our hope were dashed when the man handling the project, one time commissioner for information in Ibori government, stopped the project a few meters to my house, on enquiring I was told that the instructions to stop it came from a man who claims to be the all and all in Ika politics, to punish me because I did not come to take permision from him before influencing a school to Ikaland. Is that the kind of leadership we want? I do not shout about my achievements in Ikaland and Delta state because I found myself privilaged to be in a position where I can be of help to my people and I have done so. I influenced the siting of the College of Education, Agbor, I influence the siting of the State school of Nurshing Agbor and I influenced the siting of the Command Secondary School Mbiri. I have helped and I will continue to help young Deltans to get admission to NDA, Police, Naval and Airforce Academies in the country, I do not gloat about these achievements. As you can see, I do not have a steward, I am still searching for a serious girl, the last one I had was from Abavo, when she came to my house I bought her that table (pointing at a table), and told her, you must study, you must develop yourself. Thank God today, she is undergoing millitary training as a Regular Soldier. She will be passing-out in few weeks time. All those who served me as househelp or driver are all senior officers either in the Arny, Airforce, Navy or Police, I encouraged them to study to raise their status in society. Ika people have being under the bondage of poor leadership, what we have in Ikaland is politics of cronnies, if you are not around them answering yes sir, yes sir, you become their enemy. I am using this opportunity to tell every Ika citizen, every Deltan to support Tony Obuhs governorship aspirations. Tony Obuh is a credible man, he is a man who knows government, he is a man whom I know will play politics of good governance and development. He will treat everybody equal. He will not discriminate. I am campaigning for him, I am reaching out to my friends. I am pleading to them to support him because he is the best man well fitted for the job. I have reached out to so many of them. I will reach out to many more and solicit for their support for Tony Obuh. Those were the words of Mr Andrew Egonte, a man popularly refers to as the peoples General. He made these remarks during a chat I had briefly with him in his resident at Agbor on sunday 3rd Nov. 2014. Accessing his house was a difficult one, his resident is in Odozi street, Agbor and the street ran from old Lagos-Asaba road to the new Benin Asaba Express Way. A long portion of the street from the old road (the town) were tarred, few meters from the Express were also tarred to about three poles to his house. The distance between where the tarring stopped from both ends is roughly 800meters and this section is where the Peoples General is residing. Apart from not tarring the few meters within his resident, the drainage channel was done in such a manner that its full content empties into his compound anytime it rains, so going into his compound when it rains is like walking through a river. What I saw shocked me beyond believe. It shocked me to find out that a man who had infuenced the siting of many tertiary institutions in Ikaland and an institution as important as a Command Secondary School and who had helped a lot of Deltans could be treated in such a demeaning manner. It shows the callous nature of some Ika politicians. The contractor that handled Odozi street should go back to site, to atleast rechannel the flood directed to the compound of the great Iroko of Ika Nation down to Orogodo river if he found it hard to complete the just 800 meters remaining portion of the street. I have never seen a situation where water had to flow uphill. I saw it rignt at the resident of the peoples general and I was so sad and felt so bad about what I saw. Ika needs a breath of fresh air. Sir Tony Obuh can never, never descend to such a low level as to treat people in such an inhuman manner not to talk of a senior citizen of Ikaland for that matter. On sir Tony Obuh we Stand.
