MREs 4 Thought: To all my relations / Mitakuye Oyasin This morning, Id like to ask you to do me a favor, for it is of grave importance. I want all of you to dig deep down in your soul, and drag out those skeletons from your closet that only you know that exist. And now, I want you to place a few of those nightmares down on your kitchen table, and do it right before you eat the best breakfast that you ever had. Now, after doing this, I want you to remember the worst experience you ever had, do you remember that traumatic tragedy? Ok, now, I want you to place that experience down at the table of your favorite restaurant. And now, Id like to invite you, to give a round of applause and congratulate our friend: PTSD. You see, Sometimes, out of no where, PTSD arrives, and PTSD arrives completely uninvited. And when PTSD arrives,PTSD spoils absolutely everything in your life. As such, PTSD kills 23 to 27 Veterans a day. And the good old boys ... are out there playing golf enjoying our spoils of war, with our undocumented sisters and brothers that are enjoying serving them their wine, and thats ok, because we dont need any of them anyway. Now, who are you? And what do you stand for? Now, who am I, and what do I do, and what do I stand for? Everyday at my place of employment I secure the walking wounded, and protect those that slave over a 12 hour shift to heal and save lives. And everyday at my place of employment, I beg GOD to give me the strength to share at least one word, that I can use, to save a person from committing suicide; for I personally failed my own sister; And that is one of my skeletons in my closet. And every single breath I take, I strive to forget those experiences that have made me who I am, but I cant, because they are the skeletons in my closet that love to visit me, especially when I least expect it, and I am grateful that those skeletons exist, because they not only keep me humble, but they have made this Marine, this Once A Marine Always A Marine, the Marine that I am. Now, how can you save a veterans life? Simply by listening to them, as if they were your only child. ... Plumas, The Semper Fidelis Spirit
