MSF ON YESTERDAYS ANNOUNCEMENT OF UK GOVT SUPPORT TO SL EBOLA - TopicsExpress

MSF ON YESTERDAYS ANNOUNCEMENT OF UK GOVT SUPPORT TO SL EBOLA CRISIS. TINC concurs with this message and suggests that we keep the pressure on the UK govt through sending a letter to your MP (UK residents - using the SLWT template) or by signing up to the online petition (all of us). Below a brief response from the Director of Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders in the UK, Vickie Hawkins: We are pleased that the UK government has responded to the urgent appeals and welcome the direct involvement of UK military medics on the ground in Sierra Leone. Any extra beds for Ebola patients that they can offer are very appreciated and urgently needed. However we are very concerned that the scale and rapid spread of the epidemic will outpace these current efforts. We are watching the disease move catastrophically through the population much faster than new facilities are being created and call on all capable governments and organisations to deploy their resources on the ground before the situation gets even worse.
