MTA WNC Announces Results of Candidate Survey at Press Conference - TopicsExpress

MTA WNC Announces Results of Candidate Survey at Press Conference in Sylva. Move to Amend WNC held a press conference in front of the Jackson County Courthouse to announce the results of the candidates survey they sent in September, via certified mail, to all those running for political office in Jackson County, including County Commission seats, State Legislative seats and the 11th Congressional District seat. There were candidates running for each of these offices that responded positively to the question of whether they would support the passage of a US Constitutional Amendment ending corporate person-hood and permiting government regulation of corporate political campaign contributions. One of those who responded positively to the survey was Brian McMahan, candidate to Chair the Jackson County Commission. McMahan attended and spoke at the press conference and then was interviewed by the reporter from WRGC radio. McMahans support is particularly significant since the Jackson County Commission failed by one vote to pass an MTA resolution last year. Should he win the election the resolution will almost certainly be revisited and passed. MTA is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse political candidates. But, MTA does inform voters about a candidates position on this issue. To see the full results of the survey watch this 12-minute report on the press conference.
