MTC donates IPads to Cabinet MTC donated IPads to members of the Namibian Cabinet and Presiding Officers of Parliament, today. The donation was in line with Government’s agenda on the development of information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and MTC’s commitment to enhance mobile communication in Namibia. MTC believes ICT is an enabling and empowering technology that creates new opportunities for promoting sustainable development, alleviating poverty, achieving universal service and deepening democratic and good governance, among others, says Tim Ekandjo, Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer at MTC. He added that the decision to donate iPads to members of Cabinet was in recognition of the fact that they are required to visit all corners of Namibia to engage with their constituencies and other stakeholders. “These devices will accord members of Cabinet improved mobility to do their work efficiently in the field without needing to return to the office for basic functions of access to emails and faxes”, he said. “We wish to express our appreciation and profound gratitude to MTC for its partnership with Cabinet, said Nangula Mbako, Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister. This is not the first time, MTC supports Cabinet members with devices. Last year, MTC with the Parliament of Namibia, jointly availed tablets to backbenchers in both the National Assembly and National Council at reduced rates to enhance effective communication amongst members of the legislative houses.
