Ideokinesis may, or may not, be a new term for you. Lulu Sweigard, a pioneer of the term and technique describes “ideokinesis” as “repeated ideation of a movement without volitional physical effort”. In other words, using visualization and imagery to encourage a dynamic form of alignment without any conscious effort. Think of the impact of standing or sitting for long periods of time. For instance, standing in heels or sitting at your desk for hours. At first, It’s not physically painful or uncomfortable, but there is a lack the lack of movement in the sacrum which impacts EVERYTHING in your body. Consider the “Nine Lines of Movement”. These are nine movement pathways to visualize.
