Sagar, Lone for speeding up work on Degree College at Bagh-e-Dilawar Khan SRINAGAR, JUNE 06- Minister for Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today directed the officers to speed up the work on the new Degree College at Bag-e-Dilawar Khan in the old city in Srinagar. The Minister was speaking at the high level review meeting convened to discuss the status of the new Degree College at Bag-e-Dilawar Khan. Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone, Secretary Revenue, Mr. Vinod Koul, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Shah, Chief Engineer R&B, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Director School Education, Mr. Tariq Ali Mir, Managing Director Handicrafts, Munshi Muzaffar Hakeem and other senior officers of various departments attended the meeting. Mr. Sagar asked the officers to ensure the timely completion of the Degree College as it would go long way in ensuring that the students living in its catchment areas get quality education. He said that new streams would also be introduced which would go a long way in providing employment opportunities to the youth, besides in calculating a sense of entrepreneurship for setting up their own income generating units. The Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone also directed the officers to work in close coordination so that the work on the new college is completed as soon as possible. He said that the education sector forms one of the priority sectors of the Government and we are committed to provide quality educational opportunities to the youth of the State so that they can compete at national as well as international level so that they can bring laurels to the state. Both the Ministers accompanied by the officers later visited the site and directed the officers to undertake the necessary acquisition needed for the college. They said that the people whose properties are being acquired should be adequately compensated.
