MTC gets commuter-friendly with round-the-clock helpline Tired and scared of unruly bus drivers and conductors? Want to complain? Help is just a call away.You can now lodge your complaints by calling Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s helpline numbers 044-23455858, 9445030516 and 9383337639 round the clock. A survey conducted last year found that the behaviour of drivers and conductors was on the top of the list of problems faced by commuters. While the problem was always known, MTC has only now come to terms with it and has come up with several measures to tackle it. “We will try to resolve problems within a day. The complaints can be of any nature – cleanliness of bus stands, frequency of services and condition of buses,” said a senior MTC official. A few women’s groups who met the transport commissioner a few weeks ago suggested that crew members wear name tags. “This will be done. Although, commuters can just note down either the registration number or the sign number of the bus. We will be able to track down the culprit in minutes,” said the official. In a month, stickers containing the helpline numbers will be pasted on all buses for the benefit of passengers. Taking the cause further, crew members will also have to go through compulsory yoga classes. Each driver or conductor will be put through a refresher course at least once a year. “Earlier, only those involved in accidents took the course. With such a high stress job,these courses are required for all,” said the MTC official.
