MUSICIANS Tryson Chimbetu, Morgan and Tendai Dembo, Sandra Ndebele and some local artistes from Chiredzi left the audience spellbound with their polished acts at Tshovani Stadium, Chiredzi, on Saturday. Report by Tawanda Marwizi The musicians were performing at the launch of the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Housing Association (Zaha) in the sugar farming town. The Dembo brothers took the stage first belting out some of their late father’s hits, among them Chitekete, Vhenenziya and Madhiri. Despite having started off with their father’s well-known hits, it was their album Kutsika Matsimba that convinced the audience that they indeed are a force to reckon with. Dendera musician Tryson was next on the bill and his energetic set confirmed the ultimate winner. The Pahotera songmaker won the hearts of many with his Tamba sababa dance with crowds scampering from the terraces to take a closer look. Songs Pahotera, Ndondo, Bhora Mberi and Mombe Mombe were some of the most popular on his slot. Chimbetu left the stage for Ndebele, who has not been in the limelight since the release of her latest album No Matter What. She, however, wowed fans with Alick Macheso’s popular dance Zorai Butter with her bass guitarist imitating the sungura ace. Fans went crazy when the dancer displayed the popular sele dance routine. Backed by the melodious Conquerors Seven, Ndebele exhibited immense passion. Her discography consisted of medleys of both Christian and secular songs.
