MUZAFFARNAGAR MASSACRES Every time a communal violence happens, it becomes story for the media and the people alike. Many people killed, many homes destroyed, people were forced to leave homes. they were given temporary shelter and given food and the news are endless and all too familiar. Some statistics of what happened when is all one has to share about the killings. A bomb evokes so much anger in us. But the wanton killings don’t rouse our consciousness. Because the people killed are very poor people who have to toil for next day meal. Not that we are not concerned. But that we seldom go in to the dynamics of such killings. There is politics behind each communal violence. The ascendancy of majoritarianism in the political space in the last 20 years is an alarming and very disturbing feature of modern India. The whole irony is this majoritarianism itself is a misnomer because it does not include everyone when it comes to food and shelter. The Muzaffarnagar massacres cannot be dismissed as yet another communal violence. The top leadership of the Congress party and the SP which rule the centre and the state visiting the riot-torn areas don’t absolve the criminality of the leaderships. The violence let loose was a stage managed show by the combination of all political parties – the BJP, SP, Congress- is the truth. Consider the two facts. Both Muslims and Jats agree that there was no molestation of a Jat girl by a Muslim boy. And there was absolutely no animosity between Jats and Muslims in Western UP. Now a question arises as to who instigated the violence. BJP and BJP only. A morphed video was circulated by a local BJP leader and created fire in the villages of Muzaffarnagar. Muslims and Hindus who were living peacefully for decades were divided. The antisocial elements of the entire Sangh Parivar took the centre stage. Within a few days everything was over. Over 50 muslims were butchered. The doctors who were doing autopsy in the hospital in which the dead were taken were shocked to find such cold blooded murders. They have expressed the view that never had they come across such butchered bodies. Now the divide between Hindus and Muslims has become deep. The objective of the Sangh Parivar is achieved. Samajwadi party which is dithering between Congress and BJP tried to test the waters. What a way to test it. By allowing the Sangh parivar to enact a mini-Gujarat! Bring the BJP- VHP leaders in UP to book. Bring the truth out. Muzaffarnagar massacres is one more example of sangh parivar’s remorseless game plan to get to power at the centre. This game has to be foiled by all those who love peace, tranquility and democracy to survive in India.
