MY ADVENTURE TODAY - I was at Sydney Olympic Park with the kids today and we went to look at the ducks and swans on the lake. If anyone knows it, there is a little bridge part that goes over the water. So as we are on this part looking at the swans swimming past my mobile phone slips out my pocket and goes down, down down into the water. I freak and moan and groan and contemplate going into the water but its freezing cold, the water is green and murky and I dont know how deep it is and the Ranger tells me he wouldnt touch the water etc etc. so I get the kids and I go home and Im just devastated as yes I am one of those mums that has a zillion photos on there of the kids but I havent transferred them all to my laptop. yet. ARGHHHHH.... So I ring Waz, he said he would have tried to get it but hes in a conference all day. Im feeling shitty and annoyed wit myself for not having the guts to go in and get in...chicken little me!!! So then, I get all fired up, I think to myself ive done all this crossfit and Im getting wimpy over some little green water!!...I grab the kids and I grab the towels and I said kids we are on a mission!!. So we drive back down, go back to the bridge. There are two beautiful families checking out the ducks and I say would you mind keeping an eye on my kids..im going in!..suddenly they are backing me 100% and encouraging me as I climb down the landing, into the cold cold cold brrrrr!!! green green green slimy slimy slimy water. Im in. I dive down and to my surprise the water isnt too deep after all...probably 6 - 7 feet. I come up, no phone, but a small crowd gathering and cheering me on through my chattering teeth. Aidan calls out have you got the phone yet mum? I say not yet mate and go back down. A cant see in the dirty green water so I feel around on a few dives. On my 6th dive I GET THE PHONE!! I come up with it in my hand and THE CROWD CHEERS AND CLAPS!!! AND ITS STILL WORKING!!! I had the phone to my new friend, and phonewife, and he wraps in a towel, patting it dry while I swim to shore. I feel like an Olympian who won gold. My trophy is currently in a bag of rice but I think it will live. How cool is that???? ha ha
