MY DEVOTIONAL Ezekiel 9:1 ¶He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand. Ezekiel 9:4 And the LORD said unto him [angel], Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof. 5 ¶And to the others [angels] He said in mine hearing, Go ye after him[first angel] through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: 6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house. After the Lord called forth His sealing angel to seal His true and righteous children in the land, the angels of destruction followed their massive massacre of those who were not sealed, i.e unworthy. Of prime importance is the sequence of the judgement, beginning from God’s own temple (v.6) that is the elders who were in charge (v.1). As God is sealing His children in this last day also (Rev. 14:6, 7) (See yesterday’s Devotional), He begins with His own people who profess Him. The judgement begins with those who profess to know God and claim to trust in Him. Know, therefore, that if you claim to be a believer in God, you are part of those upon whom divine judgement commences first. Therefore let your confession of Jesus be consistent with your life so that when your turn comes up you shall not be found wanting.
