MY ENCOUNTER WITH ARMED ROBBERS DRESSED IN MILITARY UNIFORMS. Suspected armed robbers dressed in military uniforms numbering up to ten yesterday forcefully stopped our vehicle few kilometers to Giwa Local government area of Kaduna State at around eleven o’clock in the night. The incident which was so dramatic occurred, when the suspected armed robbers flashed torch light at our golf driver who was driving at 120 per speedometer but forced to stop after sighting them thinking it was another military road block. Immediately he stopped, they started hitting at our vehicle ordering us out of the car and when I realized they were not military but armed robbers I locked the front door where I and a lecturer from college of agriculture Zuru Mr A.S Girma were seated and they used sharp cutlass to broke the wind screen and forced all of us out of the car including the driver. While we became helpless, one of them gave me a dirty slap and asked why I locked the door but I reply him, it was locked right from Kaduna where we boarded the vehicle but he disagreed with me and gave me another slap and from there I shouted and one of them ordered that I shall be shot. He ordered me to bring money and I handed over all that I have and while three of them were searching on me the other people were busy searching the remaining passengers and after taking away our money and all other valuables including thirteen handsets belonging to all of us they instructed us to lie on the ground and from there they continue shooting on the air. After about fifteen minute ransacking our vehicle, one eighteen seater bus approached the scene from Kaduna or so and when the driver sighted us on the ground he drive dangerously in to the robbers and despite sporadic shooting he escaped. After about five minutes or so, another Toyota Camry driving towards Zaria arrived and as usual the man driving the car attempted to hits at the robbers but they dodged and after some meters he stopped and fired gun shots at the robber even though they fired back at him, one of them said in English “time done do lets escape” and they escaped in to the bush and after we realized that they have gone we all stood up and run for safety before we all re-unite at one village few kilometers to Giwa Local government. None of us was killed or injured I personally lost my two handsets thirty two thousand naira as well as my ATM and official Identity Cards while the other lecturer lost his two GSM phones, officials documents and about three hundred thousand naira he too with his ATM and official Identity Cards. We arrived Gusau at around 3;25am
