MYTH BUSTED: Govt clarifies position on size of Nigeria’s delegation to 69th UNGA -- -- MINISTER of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Aminu Wali, has said that the Federal Government was not responsible for all the members of the delegation that is representing the country at the United Nations 69th General Assembly (UNGA) billed to commence this week in New York. Wali said a number of persons are representing non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations and the private sector that usually attend the various side events of the UNGA. Wali had last week during the Inter-Ministerial meeting in Abuja reportedly expressed concern that at the 68th session of the assembly (last year), Nigeria had 506 delegates, the largest at the meeting, saying not even China with a population of over one billion people can compare with the number of delegates that Nigeria sends to the annual general assembly each year. The minister, while clarifying his statement on the size of Nigeria’s delegation to the session, said government on its part is ready to keep Nigeria’s official delegation to this year’s session very lean based on functional relevance and value addition. - See more at: reubenabati.ng/-Govt-clarifies-position-on-size.html#sthash.ZvlwBJc6.dpuf
