Ma sha Allah this spring might have been the year I have witnessed the most graduations ever of people I know. To each one of you guys congrats and may the Lord put blessings in the knowledge you have acquired and increase you in wisdom to take you to the next stage in life with success here and in the hereafter. Whether you are a 5th grader moving on to middle school coming out of the shell of childhood, or an 8th grader moving on to high school discovering yourself and the world around you, or a senior moving on to college taking the first steps of your mission, or a graduate getting into the workforce, this is not the end, its just a step in many to come where you add a fingerprint to the world. As I witnessed these graduations of my own daughter, others I consider to be nephews and nieces and friends and even strangers, it brings mixed feelings, feelings of joy and inspiration and feelings of sorrow and sadness. Joy and inspiration as I witness change and development in our younger generation, sorrow and sadness on my generation and how little we have given, wondering how different will they be from us in 2 decades? Feelings of confusion and sadness when a Muslim name is called but the character resembles an off-spring of a generation that used to be Muslim. Feelings of time passing and connections diverging as graduates depart their ways and move on with their lives. This spring also witnessed people who graduated permanently, from the school of life to the abode of the grave. Different types of graduations, but they all hold the same concept, the concept of a passing time that never stops, until the day the trumpet will be blown. Congrats to all our graduates, look forward to the future, change the world and make a positive difference. For those who graduated life, congrats for leaving the business of life and the loudness of our days to the peace of the most Merciful.
