Sad !! I know this man and I know his family. I remember sitting with his grandpa and his father at Ollies restaurant back in the mid 70s and my father and my grandfather talking to them while I ate ice cream from the ice cream cooler and stood by the wood stove while it dripped all over the floor LOL I also bought my wedding band from his family back in the early 90s as my original was damaged on the job. It was Black Hills Gold. Not the most valuable as we were young and I was raising a small family but I will always remember that . This article is a sad reminder of exactly what this country is going thru . The saddest thing we can do to our children is to shield them or even shelter them from the way our country was when we were kids and our parents and grand parents were kids . My grandfather took my father and my uncles to Twisp hunting and recreating in the warm months starting in 1952 and we have been visiting Winthrop since 1969 . My father and a few friends had property there until about 5 years ago and we have been visiting so often we might as well be locals .We even get the Methow Valley News sent to our homes in Spokane and Issaquah . My friends there are some of my closest and most dear . I remember when Winthrop looked like Snoqualmie wash. Not the western town it is now. Concrete sidewalks and standard post war looking small town America..They opened the North cascades hyway in 1972 and Winthrop has been a western town ever since. Every time these places close it takes another chip out of the community .I for one am going to miss seeing the white buck his grandfather harvested .I have seen this buck go from store to store over my life ever since I was a small child . I still remember the white buck that Vic Moss had over the door at the original Outdoors-man sporting goods store in town but sadly it was damaged in the fire and subsequent explosion back in the early to mid 90s that originated next door at 3 finger Jacks when the propane tank blew up and sent the mount across the street .It landed at the front door of what is now the Retro Pony and it was damaged beyond repair. Thanks Thomas . I was just there and saw the sale but sadly had no idea they were leaving .
