Machman Travel Tip #31: If you are right, never take no for an answer. Twice in as many days, American Airlines has tried to charge me for checking a bag. The guy this morning was adamant I was to pay for the bag, then take it up with AA later (only because there were many people waiting). I thanked him, took the bag off the scale and was about to walk away. The guy promptly called his boss to ask what to do and we straightened it out, because it wouldnt look good to his superiors if hes charging baggage fees to elite fliers. So if youre in the right, dont back down! (In the meantime, Ive just emailed AA to link my US Airways Gold account with American Airlines which should fix the underlying problem)
