‘Mad man’ disrupts church service InLagosIT was pandemonium when a ‘mad man’dressed in swaddled in multi-colouredfabrics saun-tered in the worship centreof Glory Chapel of the Redeem-edChristian Church of God, RCCG,Agbelekale, Abule Egba, Lagos, lastSunday sending choristers, members ofthe church scampering in every directionseeking safe haven.The middle-aged man bran-dishing aheavy stone in his right hand and a tinypiece of freshly sawed piece of wood froma nearby carpenter’s workshop was saidto have walked out of the church almostimmediately but made a return bid, thistime with ferocious campaign just as theparish pastor, Pastor Ladi Akinsanya wastelling the congregants about a specialguest minister.The entry of the ‘mad man’ interruptedthe announcement as worshippers madefor any and every escape route out of thechurch. Sensing the mood of the church, amiddle-aged man simply identified asBaba Dominion was said to have taken abold step and grabbed the ‘mad man’from behind creating an opportunity foranother to disarm him.Pastor Akinsanya intervened at thismoment, screaming; “Praise the Lord,Praise the Lord, Praise the Lord” and“Amen, Amen, Amen” interm-ittentlyobviously trying to calm down thecongregation su-ggesting that the “madman”, as it turned out an evangelicaldrama minister, was one of the specialguests expected to minister at the service.It took quite a while for me-mbers of thechurch to settle down to listen to themini-stration of the “mad man” whoimmediately capitalized on the confusionto begin preaching, saying “all sins arelike mad men before God and just you allwere running from me, so God Almightywill detest all sins including female whodeliberately entice men via the expositionof their bodies, on the last day.”He stressed the need for all those who arecalled by the name of Jesus to beprepared at all times, for the trumpetmight sound any moment, stressing thatonly those who are blameless will beraptured and will reign with the Lord.After the ministration, the outgoingpastor in charge of RCCG Place of RefugeArea, Pastor Kola Ajiboye who had cometo introduce his replace-ment, PastorGbenga Adesan-ya to the congregation,prayed for the members and called onthem to cooperate with his replacement,adding that it was imperative for him togo so that Elisha would begin hisministry.
