Madam i am final year MBBS student from SMT N.H.L municipal medical college. My final exams starts from january 2015 so i want preparation tips for post graduation medical entrance exams. Answer:- ANATOMY:- (Chaurasiya) More concentrate on nerve injuries, nerve entrapment syndromes, muscles nerve supply & actions especially upper limb, various type of joints, various fossa & their contents & cranial nerves. PHYSIOLOGY:- (Ganong) If you read all explanation from this book you would be able to solve majority of common questions from Physiology. More concentrate on general physiology topics. BIOCHEMISTRY:- (Harper) More concentrate on genetics, enzymes, amino acids, metabolism. FORENSIC MEDICINE:- (Reddy) I would suggest you to make small notes of important features of common poisoning especially lead, mercuary, arsenic for quick revision later on. Always spend some time on ballistics because need to understand properly to solve related MCQs. PATHOLOGY:- (Robbins) More concentrate on blood, GIT, kidney & general pathology, CNS, musculoskeletal system. PHARMACOLOGY:- (Tripathi) More concentrate on ANS & CVS. Tumors SARP is also quite good, just to be read selectively. MICROBIOLOGY:- (Chakraborty) More concentrate on immunology, general microbiology, virology, hepatitis, rabis, AIDS, rotavirus, polio, general virology, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology. SPM:- (Park) Do more important diseases like tuberculosis, polio, leprosy, rabies, AIDS, syphilis, respiratory infections, rickettsial diseases, dengue, yellow fever. You should do environment, health chapter, contraceptives, health & nutrition & disease control programmes, population allocation, biostats. OPHTHALMOLOGY:- (Parson) More concentrate on cataracts, ocular injuries, uveitis, corneal ulcer, refractive errors, tumors like retioblastoma & melanoma, retinitis, pigmentosa, optic atrophy, papiloedema, chalazion. ENT:- (Dhingra) More concentrate on acoustic neuroma, facial nerve course & palsy, otosclerosis, CSOM & its complications, layrngeal polps, nodules & cancer, DNS, sinusitis, epistaxis, abscess in reation to pharynx, tonsils. PAEDIATRICS:- (Ghai) More concentrate on nenatology part, CVS, metabolic diseases, genetic diseases, kidney part, cysts, dysplasias & vesicoureteric reflux. OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY:- (Dawn & Shaw) For gynaecology more concentrate on oncology, endometriosis, menstural disorders, infertility, fibroids. For obstetrics do all tables & flow charts that makes it vesy easy to understand & most of questions can be solved quite easily. Also dont forget chapter of population dynamics & birth control. MEDICINE:- (Harrison) More concentrate on CVS, kidney especilly glomerulonephritis, renal failure, acid base imbalance, hematology, genetics, viral hepatitis. SURGERY:- (Bailey & love) Make sure what tumors need radiation, what chemo radiation & what all radical surgery from bailey. Go through operative surgery procedures of common surgeries like hernia, billroth, thyroid, neck dissection & be sure what you will remove & what you will preserve in selective, highly selective radical, modified radical, sub, hemi, total etc. Various procedures for arteries for paediatric cases like tongue tie cleft palate lip, hypospediasis are all important.
