Made mention to my CFII today, that if I ever had to fly through clouds Id don the Foggles so I knew what to do. Short instrument cross country today. Longmont to Sydney, NE (I filed IFR on this leg); to Greeley (lunch) then back to Longmont Airport. Flying instruments is always busy on departure and arrival, the rest of the time is listening for ATC instructions and watching paint dry. CFII says Im dialed in; wearing foggles is a non event. Scheduled for the written test next week (hey, cut me some slack!). Then a flight with an alternate CFII on a dry run toward my practical test. Then an hour or two with my normal CFII to review/practice anything the alternate CFII uncovered, then the practical test... the big one. For non pilots, Ive been flying without my prescription glasses, and no reference to the ground or horizon, for 35 hours. Havent hit anything yet ;) Flying is cooler than all get out, even if you only fly visual conditions.
