Magnetotherapy Magnetic therapy is a safe, non-invasive method of applying magnetic fields to the body for therapeutic purposes. In other words, magnetic therapy is the use of specific magnets to encourage the parts of the body that are injured to heal faster by increasing the magnetic fields around them. Supporters believe that the blood is magnetic and that these magnets will attract healthier blood to the problem. Also, it is thought that magnets would improve other areas of your life by allowing you to sleep better and have all of these benefits without any unfavorable side effects. Ancient civilizations were known to have used magnets to treat illnesses. Hippocrates, a fourth century Greek physician, recorded that magnets were used in his day; as well as, Ancient Egyptian priests. There were some, like 15th century Swiss physician and chemist Paracelsus, which believed that magnets “attracted diseases out of the body.” Even in today’s medicine, magnets are used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and other medical procedures. Magnet therapy is a system based on the idea that our bodies form an electro-magnetic field that respond to the healing power of magnets. This means when the north side of a magnet - which is negative - is placed on an painful part of the body, it draws fresh oxygenated blood to the area of complaint. This in contrast is a positive energy field. This creates a two-pronged result. As magnets are alkaline it counteracts any acidity in the body caused by disease. In addition, fresh blood helps to remove any acidity from the body which, in turn, accelerates healing. Wear a bracelet magnet on you left hand if you have low blood pressure and on your right hand if you have high blood pressure. Do not use magnets as a replacement for conventional medical treatment or not be safe for some people, such as those who use pacemakers or insulin and for pregnant women.
