Magoo, Sport, and Dottie three friends who have been together for several years. Three souls who Monday had no idea that the car ride they all wagged their tails and enthusiastically join in on would change their lives forever. Three all unneutered, unspayed, not vaccinated, covered with fleas, all with skin infections were surrender to the Sanctuary. Their owner says he could not keep them any longer due to financial issues. They seem to have been in need of basic care for a long time. But they were fat and well fed. Magoo was born with undersized eyes and has some visual impairment, Dottie has had several litters of puppies, and Sport is shy and fearful. All were altered Monday, fully vaccinated, treated with Capstar and Revolution after receiving negative heart worm test results. They spent the evening in soft beds in the recovery room.. This morning I brought each up to a free standing kennel where I put them together for comfort and companionship, they were all so lost and overwhelmed as I am sure they did not understand what was happening to their lives. Sweet little Shitzu crosses waiting patiently for their family to come and get them, spent the day watching what the other dogs were doing. All three quickly decided I was a new friend and this evening I did not have the heat to put them in night cages even as nice as they are for the dogs. They are in the office on soft beds with food and water and spending time with me. Magoo is fast asleep, Dotttie has made a bed on top of a tote under a table and dear Sport has not left my side. He is sleeping on the floor with his head on my foot, just needing the comfort to being touched by a friend for a time. I know there are times when tough decision have to be made, when owners lives change and it seems caring for a pet is too great a task, but really all your dog wants is to be with you. It doesnt matter if it is in a mansion, a hovel, a hotel or a car, they are happy. We are their pack, their family, and their strong tower of protection.. It breaks my heart and makes me so wish I could speak words so these three know they are still loved and will be all right. I wish I could assure them that i will do the best I can for them and will try to find loving new homes so they can once again feel safe and included. But for right now I can only see to their health, and emotional needs and let them sleep with their head on my feet and rub their ears and whisper, you are loved, and you are worthy of love, and worthy of a stable home and family, trust me babies and I will do my best to find you just that. Until then, here is my heart as it breaks for the struggles you are going through now.
