Maharashtra Assembly election : Voting = Maharashtra = 45% , Mumbai = 36% (Updated up to 3 p.m.) Turnout is poor even compared to past dismal records. What has happened to Voters ? Why they do not vote ? Matter of grave concern. Is it because, a) The choice of candidates fielded is not to their liking ? b) The key parties have fielded candidates facing serious criminal charges? And he ratio is almost 50% for main parties. c) There is no holiday declared by private companies. Private Companies have given one hour concession ??? The election rules do not permit voter to take mobile, bag inside premises. One cannot take vehicle up to election polling station..... With these kind of rules, one cannot vote & proceed to office directly. Resultant, skip voting. Is it a big deal to not give holiday for countrys important democratic event ....that too once in five years ? We have various illegal bandhs where companies grant paid holiday..... If loss of manhours is such a great concern, offices can be kept open on one Sunday to compensate. Not granting holiday is absolutely stupid. Govt & Semi-Govt offices had declared holiday but not Private companies ....how illogical ???? Am sure, someone would file a petition to make it a state or central holiday for election in future.
