Mahlangu and Vilakazi out of Bafana Bafana squad to face Sudan and Nigeria 2014-11-11 Sibusiso Vilakazi and May Mahlangu are out of the Bafana Bafana squad for various reasons. Vilakazi, who has a toe injury, reported for national team duty on Sunday (9 November) only to be withdrawn from the squad after the Bafana Bafana team doctor examined him. Meanwhile, Mahlangu wrote a letter to the coach citing fatigue “after playing too many matches,” a statement that riled Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba. “This is not acceptable for a player to talk about fatigue when they have to represent their national team. It’s just that I no longer get angry these days, because I think I must also afford myself a smile. We will just follow this matter up and get to the bottom of it, I can only hope people will understand when these players are not called again in the national team,” said Mashaba. “When I took up this position, I spoke a lot about patriotism which for me is paramount. If tomorrow the player is not considered and the media asks why, here is the reason. “One will ask, what about the players who have been sacrifing their time to be in the team? But then again the country has a lot of talent to get disappointed about one player. The only thing I want to see is when a player comes out clear and says I am not available, and we know what we have to do.” Meanwhile, with the exception of Mahlangu and Vilakazi, all the players are in camp following the arrival of Thulani Serero and Anele Ngcongca from Holland and Belgium respectively. Serero is being monitored by the medical team as he has a muscle strain. The midfielder managed to finish a full session in the morning at People’s Park. Bafana Bafana are in the coastal city for the ORANGE Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2015 qualifiers against Sudan and Nigeria. South Africa plays Sudan at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 15 November 2014. Kickoff is at 15h00. Tickets for the match are going for R80 flat. Mashaba’s boys will then face Nigeria four days later (Wednesday, 19 November at the Ibo International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Kickoff is 18h00 local time in Nigeria (17h00 SA time).
