Major Noreaster Advisory from Mayor James R. Barberio According to the National Weather Service we can expect a chance of snow, mainly after 3 a.m. with a total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. New snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible during the day on Monday with the onset of heavy blowing snow Monday night. Conditions are expected to be blustery with wind up to 16 to 24 mph and an additional 6 to 10” are possible. More snow is expected on Tuesday, which can be heavy at times, and an additional 11 to 17 inches are possible. On Tuesday night, there is a chance of snow showers, mainly after midnight and a possible new snow accumulation of 1 to 3”. The Township’s snow operations will be in full force throughout the storm and crews will work as diligently and safely as possible. Salt and fuel supplies are ample to meet the storm’s demand. Crews need your help and we ask that you move all vehicles off the roadways by tomorrow afternoon. Working together we can get through this storm safely and I ask that you reach out to neighbors who are senior citizens or have special needs to ensure that they are equipped with the essentials. Storm updates will be posted on Facebook during the storm. If you are in an emergency situation, do not make a request on Facebook. It is not monitored 24/7. All emergencies are to be reported by dialing 911. Below is an update from JCP&L regarding its storm preparations: Jersey Central Power & Light is monitoring developing weather conditions for the forecast heavy snow that is expected across the JCP&L service area. JCP&L has activated its storm restoration plan and has additional line and forestry crews on stand-by to respond should outages occur. Customers who are without power are encouraged to call 1-888-LIGHTS (1-888-544-4877) to report their outage or click the “Report Outage” link on firstenergycorp. Customers should immediately report downed wires to their utility or their local police department. Customers should never go near a downed power line, even if they think it is no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled in trees or other debris.
