Makar sankranti / Kite flying festival is definitely a fun festival specially experiencing it in the north where its celebrated on a larger scale. I remember the sweets , food , energy all around. Used to have my landlords kids so excited about flying kites. Of course I never indulged in flying kites myself for obvious reasons. These r some pictures of the the birds that i have treated who were victim to the glass coated manja. Most of them with fractured wings, slit throats. Even if they survive most wont be able to fly. I guess thats the bad side of the festival. Let this sankrant be a bird friendly festival fly responsibly! If you do see an injured bird get in touch with your local NGO , if your based in Bombay feel free to contact me for any help , treatment , first aid. I take care of injured birds and rehabilitate them but will be able to just keep limited
