“Make Me First” And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: In furtherance to a study on the book of 1Kings Chapter 17, the bible recorded yet another account on the importance of total obedience to the instructions and commandment of God. When the brook dried up the word of the Lord came to Elijah and said “Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there:” If Elijah had gone to a Zarephath that belonged to another person other than ‘Zidon’ He would have been stranded and end up dying of starvation and thirst. When you are in the place of your calling, God will command things to work for your favor. ‘A lot of believers are stranded today because they are not positioned or located in the place of God’s Allocation for their life’ .... Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand .............. And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: When Elijah saw the woman ‘there’ as commanded by God, He placed two demands on the woman ‘Water and Bread’ and thankfully, the woman was able to acknowledge that she has ‘handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse’. This singular act shows that everybody has something He or She can give unto the Lord at all times: ‘our situations notwithstanding’. There is something good about you that you can give to God: it could be your voice, your time, your resources, your money, your talent and the list goes on. Never come to a point in your life where you say you have nothing to give unto the Lord, It is that gift in your hand that God will bless and multiply. ..... but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son < 1Ki 17:13 > But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you As we make our journey here on earth brethren, it is absolutely important that we learn to “Make God First” in all we do. Elijah commanded the woman to make a little cake for Him first before making for herself and her Son after which Elijah now cleared his throat and said “For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth” ; in the new Testament, the bible said ‘seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you’ If we know that God is the owner of all the Earth, then we must at all point Seek Him first. We must learn to make God first in our entire life endeavor; we must at all point acknowledge the fact that without Him we can do nothing. Prayer point: God help me to make you first in all my life endeavors today and always in Jesus name – Amen Shalom Bro Ifeanyi Ezeogu 08181954997 Twitter: @ifeanyiezeogu
