“Make Tawbah”.. It was reported that a man came to Hasan al-Basri complaining about barrenness with regards to his garden, he replied: ‘Make Tawbah.”. Then another man came to Hasan, complaining about poverty, he replied: “Make Tawbah.” Then another man came asking him to pray that Allah gives him a son, he replied …“Make Tawbah.”Hasan’s companions witness the three answers that he gave, so they asked him: three different men asked you three different questions and you gave them the same answer!! He replied: I didn’t say anything by my own, Allah the most high says فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاء عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا “Saying, ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; He will send rain to you in abundance; “‘And Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water)” ” Ask forgiveness from your lord: Verily, He is oft-Forgiving He will then send rain to you in abundance and give you increase in wealth and children and bestow on you gardens, and bestow on you rivers.” Surah Nuh, 10-12 Imam al-Qurtubi stated, ” In this verse, are clear proofs that asking for forgiveness is a cause of the descent of rizq/wealth and rain.” Tafsir al-Qurtubi, v18,p.302. - See more at: maktabasalafiya.blogspot/search/label/Repentance%20%28Tawbah%29#sthash.F5LNh0Uh.dpuf
