Make sure your MSP is looking to amend this, to make clear that there is no evidence whatsoever that coal bed methane can contribute to secure energy supplies in the medium term (a term that is itself unclear). The consultation runs until March 24: Paragraph 4.21 of the Proposed National Planning Framework currently before the Scottish Parliament says that reserves of coal bed methane in the Central Belt could contribute to secure energy supplies in the medium term but will require careful planning to avoid negative environmental and community impacts from extraction activities.
